It is Spring! We've survived the Super - Moon.
Watching NCAA's. Great job by Badgers last night.
I can't help but pull for the Big Ten teams that I rooted against all year.
I wonder if after all the budget cuts school sports will be the same. Extra curricular activities are not considered the main purpose of public education but do add value.
Student athletes learn about following rules, taking direction, working together, balancing their sports time with their academic time.
Parents get to meet other parents and form a valuable community connection.
Teachers meet parents and see students in a different light.
All of this does require community commitment.
With the State of Wisconsin and the Federal Government returning less money to communities will we be able to continue to support these activities?
